HOW TO HANDLE GLASS RACKS ON TROLLEY?

OBJECTIVE

That all glassware to be safe when moving around the meeting area

To ensure using of the properly rack

To ensure do not stack the glass rack over the view because of risk


PROCEDURE

Stacking glass rack on trolley

Before lifting the glass racks check to make sure there are no broken glasses in the racks. If there are broken glasses clean up immediately and dispose of in the correct place. Make sure you place the breakage on breakage form in your department so that a record can be kept.

When stacking glasses make sure they are on the trolley straight and are locked into each other to prevent them from toppling over. Don’t over stack the trolley, only stack to an appropriate level. When stacking make sure you are holding the sides of the rack and not underneath the rack as your fingers will get caught.

Using the rack

When using a full rack makes sure that you are able to see around it so that you can see what is in your path. Make sure you push the racks on the trolley don’t pull them.

When the trolley is not full then carry the trolley don’t push it with your feet or bend to push it.

Un stacking the trolley

When unstacking the trolley get someone to help you get the first couple of racks off so that you don’t lose your balance.

Double to check to make there are no broken glass that may have been broken when pushing the trolley or when removing the racks from the trolley.

When lifting the racks bend your knees and lift with your legs only carry the weight you are comfortable with.
