


HOW TO POLISH & HANDLE CUTLERY?
OBJECTIVE
Expect that the table is set with clean, polished cutlery. It is good to see acknowledgement of customer care & hygiene carried through in all outlets with consistently clean plates & glasses along with polished cutlery with no fingerprints.

To be professional in the delivery of personalized service at all levels of interaction.
PROCEDURE
Prepare hot water
Fill 25% of the soaking pan or wine cooler with boiling water. Make sure you hold the wine cooler on the sides and not underneath the cooler as the cooler is made of metal and will get hot.
Add a dash of white vinegar.
Change the water if it gets cold.
Prepare polishing cloths
3. Collect polishing cloths from housekeeping
Getting tub of cutler
Get the tub of cutlery that needs polishing from the kitchen make sure when lifting two people lift the tub and the tub is place straight onto a room service trolley.
Sorting cutlery
While sorting through the cutlery makes sure you be careful of items sticking up and cutting you.
Group different types of cutlery in order to make it easier to polish.
Hold the handle of the cutlery & place into hot water.
Polishing cutler
Fold the cloth into half, put left end of the cloth on the right hand
Use the other end of the cloth to polish cutlery.
The handle is to be polished last before putting it in the clean tray.
Once polished don’t touch the cutlery.
When polishing don’t do the smaller items first otherwise you will burn yourself when trying to get them out of the wine cooler
Effective Handling
Cutlery should always be picked up by only the handles to avoid fingerprints and should be stacked neatly in the appropriate place.
