


HOW TO POLISH & HANDLE GLASSWARE?
OBJECTIVE
Expect that the table is set with clean, polished glassware. It is good to see acknowledgement of customer care & hygiene carried through in all outlets with consistently clean glasses with no fingerprints.

PROCEDURE
Wash dirty glassware
Place the washed rack of dirty glassware into glass washer.
Be careful to keep back straight while carrying rack of glassware.
Need to make sure the glass washer has finished the cycle before opening the door to reduce the risk of having hot water sprayed on you.
Collect polishing cloth
Collect polishing cloths from housekeeping.
It is important to only polish glassware with polishing cloths that are designed for this. Tea towels are too stiff.
Remove clean glass
Once washed, remove clean rack of glassware from glass washer.
While removing the glass rack check to make sure there is no broken glass before picking the rack up.
Stand back while opening glass washer as it can get very hot & a lot of steam builds up inside. Carry rack of clean glassware to required polishing area. Making sure there is a clear path before moving the glass rack.
Ready to polish
Using a clean, dry polishing cloth; insert one corner of the cloth bunched up inside the glass.
Never put your hand inside the glass as it could break.
Put your right hand thumb into the glass & fingers on the outside.
Move the polishing cloth clockwise to polish.
Once finish
Place all polished glass upside down onto clean tray or put away in required racks.
Polished glassware should only be handled by the stem or base to avoid finger prints.
